[Blender] How Do I Make a 3D Diamond Pattern on a Plane?

I’ve been trying to make a diamond pattern in Blender, but I am struggling to do so.

This is what I have so far.

I try and use and scale the faces down, but it doesn’t work as hoped and I get this:

How can I make the diamond pattern? If anyone could help me out it would be very appreciated. Cheers!

inset and then grab it along the y axis

I found that I needed to press the hotkey twice in order for it to do individual faces, as only pressing it once would keep the faces grouped together and touching. Just what I was looking for, thanks!
