Blender Mesh Snap/Warp

Hello, I am KnockOffNoah, but you can call me Noah. I have been trying to make a waffle cone in Blender, and have succeeded in making the texture that I want the cone to look like, but I need the plane to become a cone. I have tried many modifiers but none have worked. What I need if to snap the plane into the shape of a cone while keeping the texture and changes it already has, is that possible and if so could you please inform me on how? Thanks.

You don’t use a plain to do that, UV unwrap your cone, there are a lot of tutorials about UV unwrapping

Im not a 3d modeler, but wouldn’t the shrink-wrap modifier work in this case?

Na it’s just a simple UV unwrapping, you can directly put the texture on the cone instead of trying to make the plain into a cone

Oh, sorry. I don’t think I explained it correctly. So basically I have extruded and moved the plane to make a waffle cone texture, and am trying to make it into the shape of the cone. I’m asking if there is a way to snap the plane into the shape of the cone while keeping the edits I have done.

Use vertices snapping function. But tbh even in this case UV unwrapping is still the best way

Try messing with the curve modifier maybe? If you’re trying to deform existing geometry, then that should do the trick. Here’s a tutorial covering it, if you run out of geometry then you can add a array modifier to have more “cone” to work with. The higher the resolution the better the deformation, but i’d honestly advise using a texture in the future as it would be less performance intensive.

Would that be under the Vertex panel? Also you keep saying UV snapping but it’s a changed plane not a texture. (Sorry for saying texture in the og post by texture I meant the changed plane.)

Alright, thanks. Would you happen to know a waffle cone texture off the top of your head?

Not that I know of from the top of my head, but it’s not exactly a complicated thing to make on your own. There’s plenty of tutorials on the subject of texture creation, so take a look around on Youtube! You can also just draw it on yourself or look for a royalty free texture hub, which aren’t bad ideas either. Good luck with whatever you end up choosing!

Vertices snapping

Alright, thanks a ton! Will help me a bunch.

Ok, thanks. I will look into this.

I strongly recommend listening to what Impjelly is recommending instead of following down your path with what you already have.

You should use a texture for this, not geometry (unless the end goal here is to follow a high poly to low poly bake workflow). It’ll save you a lot of hassle, not to mention learning textures is easy and very useful to learn for other projects as well.

Also to clarify, when you say “waffle texture” I think you’re referring to the waffle pattern made out of geometry. You’re not currently using an actual texture, correct?

Ok, thank you. And yes, I am using geometry not an actual texture. I worded it wrong.
