A question, is there a way to either import multiple rigs and animate them as one, or able to disconnect bones of the rig and still be able to export the animation?
I want to rig and animate weapons/tools, specifically a gun, so at first I tried to import 2 rigs, an arm rig, and a gun rig, but realized it wasn’t really possible since you can only import 1 rig.
Instead, I imported them as one rig, connecting both rigs using a bone, but realized that animating the gun while it’s parented to the arm rig resulted in a sorta “robotic” animation. Disconnecting the bone from the arm rig to gun rig would solve this, but then I could not export the animation since it would result in an error.
Hey Den_S, there’s been quite hiatus between now and when this informational post was made, but I’m still having issues… I followed your description on how to fix but I’m still getting an issue where the arm is out of place when porting over.
Hi Den_S, sorry if you’ve already got these questions, but for some time I’ve been facing the problem where If i try to rebuild the imported rig (they’re non-humanoid rigs, machines etc.) in Blender 2.8, I receive an error and cannot continue.
Also, whenever I close the actual plugin in studio after exporting a rig, it crashes my studio.
I’ve tried re-installing the Blender add-on and there aren’t any new updates for the Roblox plugin, so I’m kinda lost here.
Due to some changes in the Blender 2.8 beta the addon broke at some point, it’ll be fixed whenever it’s released. For now, use an old 2.8 build or just 2.79.
The plugin crashing Studio is caused by some Studio bug which will hopefully be fixed soon.
Hey! I don’t know if this is only happening to me but I only seem to be able to use models that are placed inside the RigSample place that you have given. If I try anywhere else I get an error. Any ideas why?
Yes I can remove your rig and put in mine and it works. But if I put the rig inside my place then export it I get an error while trying to rebuild the rig.
The plugin will enable run mode once you select a rig, so other scripts in the place might mess with the rig at that point, causing some issues. It’s suggested to simply use an empty place with just the rig instead for exporting/importing.
If you’re getting errors, make sure to post the exact error message, they tend to describe what the actual issue/cause is, the above suggestion is just a random guess on what the cause may be.
Other question, if for example I want the humanoid rig to pick up an object from the ground, how am I supposed to rig it without the object’s rig moving with the humanoid’s rig? I’ve been trying to do this for 2 hours now and can’t seem to make it work. I’ve rigged them separately but then only the humanoid’s rig appears when I rebuild it.
Ex: I parented/rigged a mug to the humanoid’s hand, if I move the hand or the arm the mug moves with it which is not what I want. I want the mug to stay in one place until keyframed.
Seems like Blender changed another API-related thing in the 2.80 beta version, downgrade to 2.79 or an older 2.80 beta build for now until the addon has been adjusted for these changes.
At some point in the future I’ll definitely update it — I’ve got some other priorities currently. Generally using 2.79 for now is what I’d recommend until it has been updated.
Hey i have a question about the plugin on blender.
After i export the model from roblox using the roblox plugin and when i import that exported model to blender and rebuild rig. How would i go about getting other people to work on this rig? Can i send them the fbx? Or do they need the same blender version and plugin installed on their end and then they can open the blend file of the blender “imported model”
Can you upload a place file with the rig in it + the obj file you get after exporting data from the plugin, so that I can see what’s going on in your case?
I wonder whether anyone is able to offer me some advice on an issue that I am experiencing.
I am currently trying to import Rthro avatars into a game, using the instructions contained within the following resource:
I am able to import the given sample rig into Roblox Studio, with no problems, and I can confirm that everything works fine.
However, the problem that I have experienced is this:
Next I import the given sample into Blender to create a new avatar (I am using the most up-to-date current version of Blender: v2.80) and then I export my work onto my desktop as an FBX export. The issue is that, when I import this FBX file, it contains no attachments. This means that, when I test the new file, my current avatar falls apart and dies.
Is there a workaround (such as a change to my settings, to export from Blender and then import to Roblox Studio. I am sure that I must be making a very basic and foolish error at this step) so that all the attachments can be included? Or is it a case of having to replace the attachments in every limb manually, after the new file is imported to Roblox Studio?
I thank you in anticipation for any input regarding this issue.
