Bloxtale (RPG) - Devlog #1: Combat System!

Hello! This is a devlog of a game I’m creating, called Bloxtale. I’m currently working on a combat system that is extremely efficient to allow for a much easier time adding onto it and updating it. It is very simple for me to use and I’m happy with how it’s going so far. The current issues I’m facing are disabling mobile movement since freezing their movement using context action service doesn’t work with some things for my game due to game design aspects (looking into alternate solutions and have found one by the time I’ve made this edit) and I’m just contemplating how to calculate damage based on damage points. I’m also going to be working on some UI for the battle and will be adding camera angles while performing actions since my friends say it’s a good idea.

The combat system allows for people in the player team to take turns doing an action like attacking or passing or using an item. This allows for strategic plays since players get 30 seconds in the current state of the system to move. An example is a player who is using the magic class to use a supportive ability on a friend who has a more tankier class to use a taunt action to get enemies to attack them instead of a friend while not taking too much damage due to the supportive spell cast on the tanky player.

Examples:

Fighting with Friends and Weapons

Fighting as a Duo with Fists

Fighting alone without any helpful items like potions

- YouTube – This did not end well and I should’ve gotten friends to help me fight lol.

Weapon swapping system

Honestly, this looks cool. The animations are great!

My suggestions are

Add camera shake when you attack or get hit.
The GUI is so hard to see.
Move camera angle because some enemies are getting covered with your character.

That’s all!
