Blue tint/ shadows not rendering on bottom floor

I know there have been many posts about lighting issues, but as far as I am aware, this is a bit different than lighting going through walls. If not, please post/give a few other topics with similar issues.

Hello, I have created a tower ~130 studs tall, but when I look down it, I get weird shadows on the few bottom floors.

As you can see, there is a blue tinted shadow at the very bottom. What’s weird is that the floor is not blue, and all of the lighting settings have no blue tint at all. The tint does go away when approaching it within 50 studs. I could make each floor take up the whole space, but I want the tower to be open, and the player should be able to look all the way down/up.

This is a picture from the outside. As you can see, the bottom part of the tower has a different shadow than the rest.

I have all colors in the lighting set to black, and have tried every LightingStyle, including the New beta realistic and soft lighting.

Here is a simple 200 block tower, with the unwanted lighting at the bottom.
If i change the wall thickness or add a roof, I get no change.

Is there a way to fix this?

Try turning up your render quality

Ctrl + S > Rendering > Quality Level (smth like that) > Level 21

It already is at level 21. While playtesting, my render settings are at the highest as well.

Maybe its the atmosphere? I’m really not sure of what could be causing the issue.

Upon deleting all instances in lighting, it gets rid of the blue tint, but the shawdowless area is still there.

That’s actually pretty normal, it might be roblox’s distance thing for perfomance etc

So i guess I have to go with the full floor, so that the player can’t look down all the way.

Hi! This is Roblox’s engine doing what it can to render while keeping lag low, and there is no way to fix this. You will see lighting issues like this in games with large vaulted roofs or far away places or deep holes.

The best way to fix this is to hide it.

Set both EnvironmentDiffuseScale and EnvironmentSpecularScale in Lighting to zero, should fix the blue shadows.

Alright, thanks. There should be a setting to change the shadow render distance or something, the current shadow render distance is like only 100 studs right now.

I ended up deciding to add a large floor so that players can’t see all the way down the tower.
