Boss fight Health UI Positioning - Vertical or Horizontal?

I’m working on the UI for a boss fight and I’m not sure if vertical or horizontal looks better.

MegaMan (2d game) is the inspiration for the vertical. Most boss fights have horizontal health bars. My game is in 3D, so not observing the view is important. I could go the route of other platformers like Super Mario games by not having a heath bar, and instead just having a 3-hit system. This is what I already have planned. So, I wonder if I even should have a health bar. :person_shrugging:

I have never been a fan of horizontal games and it is best to keep it that way

Your game is also looking better in horizontal mode and if it was vertical, it would produce clutter

horizontal is much better.

you are fighting a boss, and you want to keep his health FRONT and CENTER (not literally center, but you get my point)
not pushed off to the left like a side character!
