Hey everyone,
A little less than two months later, pre-pre alpha is complete and we’re onto pre-alpha. Pre-pre alpha turned into a much more valuable phase than I had initially expected. Huge thanks to all of the pre-pre alpha testers for a really awesome job in helping me to make key decisions, giving valuable input, and offering suggestions. So far, the game has been significantly affected by their input in a very positive way.
That being said, here’s some info/answers to questions some of you might have:
WHAT IS PRE-ALPHA?
Pre-Alpha is a stage of the game where things start being created and the game starts to take shape. ROUGH shape, but shape nonetheless. I described pre-pre alpha as “Imagine laying out all the ingredients for some food you were making. That’s sort of what’s been happening up until now. Pre-pre alpha is where you will see a lot of that stuff being implemented, as well as some new stuff too.” Pre-alpha will be where the game starts to really take shape (in terms of map design, game functionality, UI design, etc.)
A lot of things are in a weird phase between mockups and the actual design, where they look very similar to how the actual design looks, just uglier (lol).
IT’S FREE RIGHT?
No, just like pre-pre alpha there is a price to test - the price has been reduced by 50% and is now 500 robux.
DO I GET SOME BENEFIT FOR BEING A PRE-ALPHA TESTER?
Of course, just like the pre-pre alpha testers you’ll get various benefits. These are:
- Starting amount of some number of shillings upon subsequent releases (smaller amount than pre-pre alpha testers)
- Some type of custom pre-alpha tester weapon (less flashy and less dangerous than the pre-pre alpha weapon, but it will still be cool)
- In-game identification as a pre-alpha tester (in-game and in Discord)
- Access to a special testers Discord channel to give direct feedback on the game and the development direction
WHAT WAS EVEN DONE IN PRE-PRE ALPHA?
So if you saw any images of the pre-pre alpha, you’ll have noticed it’s just a single building. A lot of stuff happened on the backend to reduce lag, keep things smooth, make things scalable, etc. Currently right now, there are around 6,500 lines of code in the game. While it’s length of code usually isn’t a huge bragging point, this is just to demonstrate that a lot has been done behind the scenes. Luckily, starting out is always the hardest part, and since starting out it’s been a lot easier to create new features.
I’m looking forward to seeing how the game starts coming together in pre-alpha. If you’re interested in being apart of the process, considering purchasing access to the Remastered Test Place and you’ll be added to the tester team ASAP!
Huge shout out and thanks to the pre-pre alpha testers again!
