After a few months of plugging away at this game, I finally finished the map to my liking and decided to publish it. This new map is an extension of the universe I’ve already been piecing together with other games (like UD: Westover Islands, which has been garnering a fair number of visitors in the past week). The map consists of a downtown area with rural farmland surrounding it, with several highways and freeways crisscrossing it. This is so far my favorite map that I’ve gotten to build.
I try to go really hard with the environment, especially with the weather and sound.
Oh hey, I actually came to your Westover Islands version with a few friends and had some fun earlier, great to see that you’re updating/continuing the series!
Not as of now, I tried putting something together but it just made it slower as it was trying to shuffle parts around. What’s the best way to go about that, move parts to someplace like ReplicatedStorage or parent them to nil until I need them back?
I like the size of your map and all that, but your cars currently feel like I’m driving on ice with bald tires and a layer of water between the two. It’s not fun to drive which should be what the game is all about!
Yea, I know, I’ve looked into using a custom chassis but I haven’t found a method that doesn’t have really jerky steering. I’d love to get away from my current chassis because it’s a pain in the neck to tune and the results are, as you’ve noticed, pretty subpar.
I hijacked the map script and made it trace out my movements as Frames. Then I ran around the entire map tracing the roads and shorelines, screenshotted the result, and plopped it into Inkscape and drew over top of it.
