BubbleChat's Epic Makeover

Great idea! I think there should also be a size option.

I am interested in having this tested in my game. 250724380

TL;DR: Italics, Bold, Auto-capitalized/ Vice versa, Uppercase/ Lowercase, Typing Animations, Bubble/Font size, and minor popping issue.

Emojis would be great too!

We’re interested in trying this out! Testing & Development - Roblox

I’m not stoked to hear that it uses core scripts and roact - I feel like roblox uses that library for everything in lua nowadays (and I still don’t understand how it’s better for creating ui than the normal way lmao). But hey, a new chat is cool… We should have some way of getting the actual gui objects so we can modify them with a script though. I’d want to change the background transparency, and possibly the shape of the bubble if I can.

Awesome, it’s great to see an alternative way to modify the chat instead of forking!

I’d be interested in enabling it for this game:

  • What kind of additional customization features would you like for us to add?
  • Are there any other features or improvements related to BubbleChat that you’d like to see?

Allow me to choose where chat messages are emitted from in a character. My game uses custom characters that include an attachment called “FakeHead”, and bubblechat is customized to first check if that exists, and then to default to the head otherwise, emitting the chat bubble from whichever one is found. As my game has a large roleplaying aspect, this helps build immersion. I imagine that the ability to emit chat bubbles from an attachment or part other than the Head would have a variety of other use cases as well.

TL;DR: Give more control over where the chat bubble is emitted instead of forcing it to be the ‘Head’ part.

I really don’t think that having a long list of toggleable options is better than letting us edit it ourselves. There’s infinite things developers will want to add, and no list will satisfy everything.

Such an amazing feature. I would really like if it wasn’t a CoreScript. Modifying it might be pretty useful for some developers.

I like to participate in the beta. Here’s the place ID:

Can you enable the new bubble chat on these:
adventure - Roblox
Uranium Tycoon [ALPHA] - Roblox
The Paranoid Assassin - Roblox
[NOT Winter] Menial Minigames [Beta] - Roblox

This is very cool.

Can I have it enabled in my test place just for testing with it if that’s okay.
