Building comparison

So, just over a year ago I tried to build my first map; recently, I’ve been taking a [really long] break from my main project to create a game from scratch. Due to the likeness of the two game’s maps I wanted to compare the two:

Here is my first ever real attempt at building a game map. Coming in at… wow… 18k parts (I made most things with triangle terrain). It’s also insanely bright and uses free modeled trees because I couldn’t even make a cone in blender:

In comparison, here’s all I’ve done building wise on my current project so far. The fact that it has almost no lighting effects, was made in two days, and is not even done, yet still looks tons better than what I made last year. It’s also a lot more optimized , coming in at 800 parts, still got some old assets yet to be redone. Although it’s not finished I was moved to the point that I felt like I had to make a post (also because I was wondering if there’s any details I could add because I feel like it’s still a bit empty in the finished sections in the back):

You left the road closed, you must fill in that area because it looks a bit lonely and also the spaces that are empty put trees.

Oh yeah roads empty because I haven’t gotten there yet, same with why there’s no trees or rocks. I was meaning more towards the back where I’ve got more created, I still feel it’s lacking something. Maybe I’ll add bushes, that might help.

I have nothing to say about what is behind because it looks so good :ok_hand: (but if you want to put a little more trees, rocks, bushes on the mountain)

Yooo that’s looking great so far! Only suggestion is adding a couple more background props that are on the sides, but this is looking nice!

Great idea, in fact I just finished doing that! I made some bigger terrain behind the waterfall to make the scene look a lot more grand and I also added some trees and rocks on the sides.
