It’s pretty important to make sure that your builds are nice and tidy. We all have methods that we have naturally taught ourselves to do, but here’s mine. Hope this can help those that have this issue.
[1] For starters I will find a piece of work where I feel doesn’t match up with a certain piece of detail.

[2] Then I would add two ‘‘throw away parts’’ on either side, both pieces have to be in the same places as each other.

[3] Depending on the part you’re doing I would add another throw away part facing a different direction like this, its just so I know the distances

[4] I will do the same to each side

[YOU CAN ALSO USE THIS FOR SPACING]
You can also adapt this method to other things such as making sure when you have curves the distance between both parts are the same. For example.
[1] Add a part between the gap

[2] Relocate the part to other bends that you’re trying to measure

[3] Because you made a part the size of middle one if you move it and palace it ontop of the angled one it should be the same distance apart, if its not you can easily move that part.
