Building Tips/Resources

Hello,

I’m working on a game in which you will be monitoring cameras, and these cameras will be in certain locations. First location I’m modeling is a Gas Station. Each location will have 7 cameras each, and right now, I’m working on the “Pump Station”. Just a simple POV of 4 gas pumps, a black car, and a convenience store off to the side. But I’ve realized that building, at least at the level I am trying to build at right now, is much easier said than done.

Do any of you wonderful people have ant advice or resources you could share with me to maybe help me out? I’m working on this game entirely by myself and so far have managed all the coding, UI, animations, and audio myself. So any form of help/advice you can give me will genuinely help me a lot.

If you read all this, thank you for your time and patience, and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day/night.
Take care, ACherryPy

(Sidenote: I should mention that the game I am working on is a horror game, so the locations are very eerie and need lots of detail such as trash on the floor, boxes in the corner, wind, ect.)

Mainly use ference images, and use depth. Depth adds a ton of detail to a build even though it’s very simple. Place assets and stuff where they would be placed in real life.

Use trimsheets. It’s much more efficient and more consistent when texturing a large amount of assets.

That said, you’d have to learn Substance Designer to make them - or you can commission others to make one for you

Try adding some music that creates suspense, so that maybe the players will fear that a jumpscare will happen but wont.
