Bypassed Shirts with Inappropriate Content

Users on Roblox are able to create and upload shirts containing bypassed content such as swear words, explicit language, or inappropriate imagery. These designs exploit loopholes in the moderation system, allowing such content to pass through and appear publicly on the platform.

Details:

Behavior Observed: Creators use various techniques to bypass Roblox’s automated and manual moderation systems. This often involves obscuring or layering inappropriate text and images in ways that make detection difficult during the review process.
Impact on Community: These bypassed shirts violate Roblox’s community standards and can harm the experience for players, especially younger users. It undermines the platform’s family-friendly environment and raises concerns about safety and moderation quality.
Key Issues:
Ineffectiveness of existing moderation tools in identifying and preventing bypassed content.
Lack of robust human oversight or AI-driven detection for identifying inappropriate designs.
Potential exploitation by repeat offenders using alternate accounts.
Suggested Solutions:

Enhanced Moderation: Introduce advanced AI models trained to detect complex bypass patterns in images and designs.
Human Oversight: Increase human moderation for flagged uploads or designs with suspicious patterns.
Community Reporting: Empower users to report inappropriate shirts, with expedited review for reported items.
Stricter Penalties: Impose stricter penalties for accounts uploading bypassed content, including IP bans for repeat offenders.
Layer Analysis: Develop tools that analyze shirt layers to identify hidden inappropriate elements.
This issue requires urgent attention to maintain Roblox’s commitment to a safe and enjoyable environment for all players.

Expected behavior

If everything were working correctly, Roblox’s moderation system would automatically detect and prevent inappropriate content, such as swear words or explicit images, in shirt designs before they are uploaded. The system would thoroughly scan both the text and visual elements of the design to ensure they align with Roblox’s community standards. Shirts containing any form of bypassed content would be flagged and rejected immediately during the upload process. Any designs that violate guidelines would be automatically filtered out, ensuring only family-friendly, appropriate content is available for users to wear or purchase.

EDIT:
I Don’t have a link for the groups/shirts which bypass Roblox moderation, when you search bypassed in search it shows every bypassed shirts.

The system would thoroughly scan both the text and visual elements of the design to ensure they align with Roblox’s community standards. Additionally, if users were to search for the term “bypassed” or similar keywords, the search results would show images of all shirts that contain bypassed content, making it clear which designs are inappropriate. This would allow users and moderators to identify and remove any inappropriate shirts swiftly, ensuring only safe, family-friendly content is available on the platform.

As much as this can be seen as a bug, I think Roblox is actively working on AI models to delete items like this, you’d probably be better off linking groups and items actively uploading this sort of stuff so they can deal with them as they pop up. I don’t think an advancement in moderation can be done in a short timespan and neither would I trust AI moderation to have good judgement with stricter regulations as they already have a hard time differentiating creations that meet guidelines in UGC between ones that don’t.

Yes right, but i was just letting them know that Bypassed Shirts can be used with different ways to hide it so it might be hard to ban or take action on, there’s many shirts are used as black shirt but when used it shows inappropriate content/text.

You’re reporting inappropriate content you’ve found on the website as a bug. This is not a bug and if anything would fall under a feature request to improve moderation. I agree that the 2D clothing marketplace is a mess in its current state, but this doesn’t make this issue a bug that can be fixed as everything is working as intended.

I Mean bug by the under review system is not working using AI. there’s a bug in the AI it doesn’t even review the item/shirt before uploading.
