I have heard that California servers include servers that do not have a title. For example, a Hong Kong server being labeled as a California server. I Just want confirmation so I can keep this in mind for creating a server browser; something as simple as including a note for players so they know that a California server could be a server in Asia and not a server in North America.
If I recall correctly, a decent amount of the ways that developers grab location information to servers will default to NA or California, especially if it’s a new server location, and it hasn’t properly been implemented/indexed.
I’m not exactly sure how to pick out the ‘Invalid’ or ‘Placeholder’ California servers from the real ones, But it does indeed happen. I can’t surmise any proof for this, but when Sydney servers were first introduced, a ton of server browsers defaulted the servers to NA. Likewise, I’ve noticed that this still happens in a few games where Singapore servers are still labelled as NA.
