Camera Clipping Plane

It’s way too much on Roblox can we have a setting to change it? It’s really bugging me that we don’t have this. We can’t make proper FPS games without dealing with this thing.

Can you explain what this is, please?

I’m not entirely sure.

You know you could have googled “Camera Clipping Plane” and find out this image which is the 2nd image that explains it very good.

Yes please. I’m going to make a custom camera where the camera is not set at the back of the head, so… I’d like to not have my view clip through the plane when it’s 0.1 away.

If you’d ask me, I’d like it >0 away.

Yes please this would be very helpful - also more powerful camera controls in general would be appreciated.

Wait, so this basically makes everything invisible besides the parts that are in between the near clip and the far clip?

Only pixels whose depth ends up between the near and far plane end up on the screen.
Of course, the skybox is rendered as a separate step from the normal objects so it wont get clipped.

The positions of the near and far plane affect the precision of the depth component of the pixels written to screen. If the near plane is too close to camera, or the far plane is too far, the depth precision will end up being too low which will cause z-fighting (google) which is worse with far away objects.

Usually the clip planes have to be adjusted to minimize z-fighting, and by how much they can and should be moved depends on the scene. Youd want the near plane far from camera and far plane far too for a space game for example (to render them planets). For an FPS, you can probably move both closer to the camera.
