Can a free model steal your game assets and scripts?

This just concerned me because I was using a donation board created by a dev called karbon

it is obfuscated code and I wonder why it has to be obfuscated if it’s a free model anyone can use but anyway.

I was wondering if that code could go through my game and send it as a file to a webhook and then basically just steal my game

no it can not, it can backdoor your game tho

No, the script source should be protected.

The only big worry should be the remote event vulnerability depending on what the donation board does, and it’s a big deal as you will have difficulties checking it as it’s obfuscated.

Consider other open source donation boards that are at the very least not obfuscated.

Some programmers choose to obfuscate their code, it’s not always with malicious intent. It’s a little futile though as anyone determined enough can un-obfuscate it.

Some freemodel “virus” scripts will backdoor your game like @RtxyRBLX mentioned, meaning cheaters can join and get around FilteringEnabled to wreak whatever havok they want.

The issue of stealing the game is a separate problem…
