Can a story game still be popular/ get to the front page nowadays?

I have been making a story game until when one of my devs told me that there are no story games on the front page and that they have died alot and that i probably wont make my money back. I was planning on investing 20k robux into ads on it, but now i dont know whether i will make any profit if i do…

Can a story game still be popular? and for those people who look into how well game genres do, do you think it will ever come back to be as popular as it did in late 2019?

i would say you would need a lot of adverts for it to get to the front page. i have scrolled through the front page and hardly seen one.

Yes, in my opinion. But the game must be creative at buildings and it follow “it style”, do not copy any game Story because it’s “Old”

  • And it depent on your game Story, is it telling the truth of anything irl ?
    • Als somethings that attractive player → A Clue about “it” make people want to explore it so you will the “it” at the end of the story.
  • Lighting Game is one of most important things that build up Story game special Horror games.
    • ex : Dark Color make player feels scare ofc with the music theme behind they ears.
    • You could set lighter color to make it feel happy and boom! you can set the light by random to build the scare atmosphere.

Welp At the end, it depent all on your exp. Your jumpscare ? Your Buildings, your music and sounds that change people emotions everytime you want.

Story games can definitely still be popular. Just recently a new story game came out called Airplane 4 and it is doing very well in terms of popularity. The story genre is definitely not as popular as it once was and probably never will be, but it will never fully die as long as people continue to create games in that genre.

Story games might be still popular, but you have to create something unique, something where players can interact with other players more commonly than in the regular story games.
If we would take a look on the popular games, you see there’s a high interaction between other players.
My opinion and tip is to create a game, where players would build theri progress trought the story together or create more short story games like other famous story game devs.

As people make new and different story games, with new technology and discoveries, Roblox developers will always be overtaken by others, so it’s really dependent on how good your developers are, how much work you put into it and biggest factor yet: ads.

Ads are one of the largest reasons that games become popular, there’s also the factor of popularity stars, like YouTubers, whenever they play a game, earn a badge, people notice that, and they join, then their friends join, etcetera.

My second point was more based on luck. Unless you contact a YouTuber, be it directly or through another person, the chances of YouTubers playing one’s game is quite low, as they strive to keep their community alive by playing the latest games.

So the moral of this is to develop your game properly, send out ads, and chances are, you can achieve front page in no time!
