Can Default Roblox Audio Be Heard By Other Clients?

There isn’t a specific category for asking questions, so I just used this. Somebody may have also asked this question before, but I want a genuine answer to this.

I’m making a battle royale game and I want other players to hear your footsteps, I already made a custom sound system for having walking and jumping audio played by the server, but I’m wondering if that’s even necessary, and other clients can just hear your audio. If they can hear your audio, then can you change your audio via local script and have the same changes applied when others hear it?

i haven’t really tested it out but i’m pretty sure anything changed from the client will only happen for that specific client

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too, but so many roblox games seem to have it where you can hear other client audio, so I might as well ask.

Sounds played on the client don’t replicate to the server. So no, clients can’t hear other clients audio.

What most games do is play a sound on the client when they do something (eg shoot a gun), then replicate that sound from the server to all the other clients.

I’ve already had a system set up for that so I suppose I have to pursue that now

they play it on the server, so all clients can hear

Really? Can you alter the audio on a local script and the server will still hear those changes? Because you can’t alter it with a regular script since you can’t see the default audio on the server.

no, i meant that in order for the clients to hear the same audio, you play and alter it on the server. altering it on one individual client means they will only hear that changed audio

oh nevermind then, i guess i still have to use my audio system
