Hello, I have a question that might seem a bit unusual.
I’m considering adding smoking as part of my game to enhance realism, specifically for NPCs (not players). The goal is to make them feel more lifelike and active rather than static or idle. I’ve noticed some Roblox games include bars or other mature themes and are marked as 17+.
Would it be possible for my game to include smoking if I ensure it’s eligible for a 17+ rating? Are there any specific guidelines I need to follow when implementing this type of content?
Roblox prohibits behaviour deemed inappropriate or harmful, even for 17+ games.
I recommend that you consult the official Roblox guidelines and propose symbolic or attenuated alternatives if necessary.
17+ experiences on Roblox may include references to, and depictions of, alcohol use and intoxicated behavior. However, we prohibit users from discussing, depicting, or promoting illegal and some regulated goods, including:
Illegal and regulated drugs, including marijuana and the misuse of prescription or over-the-counter drugs, and the depiction of intoxication as a result of these substances
Drug, tobacco, vaping, or other smoking paraphernalia
Dietary supplements and enhancers such as weight loss pills and steroids
If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, help is available. You can start here.
So wait, drinking is allowed but smoking isn’t? I’ve seen bars on roblox where you could get literally drunk and blackout, but smoking isn’t allowed? I don’t understand ToS at this point.
