Can I have feedback on a knife animation I made?

I made this on halloween to get in a murder theme. Please reply feedback!

Video

I am new to animations by the way, I started on halloween.

I’m not that big of a help on this because I’ve never really used the animation editor before. But it seems the knife spin is kind of choppy. Is that because of the video or the animation itself? Otherwise, it looks great!

It may be both. The video is choppy and I am pretty bad at animating. But thanks for feedback!

I think it’s really good for someone who just started.

That being said - here are my critiques:

It’s very stiff.

You’re animating on an R15 rig, meaning you have joints! Little things like bending the elbow and moving the hand go a long way to add some natural movement in it. The elbow did rotate 180 degrees but it did so in an unnatural way.

It’s very robotic.

No way will a human arm ever go straightly down in such a motion. Try ending on a keyframe where the character’s arm is slightly rotated to the sides or something to show some nice human elements (unless this character is supposed to be a robot - in that case - it may work).

I think this is a great start - so don’t take my criticism as discouragement. Keep it up!

Thank you for the feedback! Also, the character isn’t meant to be anything so I guess we could say it’s a robot or a human. Next time I animate, I will remember you’re feedback!
