I personally feel like it is too dark, but I’m stuck for ideas on what the icon should/could be. Any feedback is appreciated.
Hm, yes, it’s definitely dark. I might also try bringing more focus on something. For this icon in particular, everything seems too spaced out to bring a focus point and therefore makes it ineffective.
For what an icon should/could be, there really is no limit. All an icon should be, really, is an image that gives a quick idea of what the game (or group) is like that encourages the person seeing the icon to find more about your game and possibly play it.
I like the concept a lot though, and I think with a few adjustments this will be a very nice looking icon. Keep up the great work!
It cant really still wha the game is about the characters look like there holding weapons - colorful ones doesn’t look attractive nor interesting to players eyes. If this is related to actual real life events i would rename it to something else.
This is really for you to decide on what you want your icon to look like or the concept of the game, the icon itself doesn’t give no information on what game is it just looks like the character has weapons. I’m assuming there spraying users from my point of view of the icon, try adding lighting in the scene if you feel like it’s dark.
The icon is on the off look it just needs more details to have that resemblance of a virus sort of icon. The (lighting look poor looking) you should include more characters in the background to have that look your earning just to give players, a good view on what the game is really about.
Right now it doesn’t look to attractive nor interesting. Try adding lighting different characters.
I’ve added much more lighting and added outlines to the ‘monster’ of the game. Feel like the icon is much more lively now, is this an improvement?
I really like the icon but the dominius guys appears to be floating.

I think that’s a great improvement, still feels slightly spaced out but if I were to see it in sponsored, for example, I would probably take a look. Nice job!

Sorry, this is sort of difficult to explain, so I’ll try the best I can.
If you look at the icon, the characters (mainly the one in red) seem to be far, almost too far away from the purple thing (I’m assuming that’s the monster, sorry, I just don’t want to make too many assumptions). It also might seem like not enough emphasis is placed on the actual interaction between players.
Assuming it’s called “The Virus”, maybe place the monster and a character practically touching? As if the monster is in the middle of infecting the player.
That’s just what I think, some people might think it’s perfectly fine the way it is and I can see that. Overall I still think it’s an effective icon, just could use some placement work.
Also, please correct me if I assumed the wrong things.
The improvements looks good, but try adding clothing to the characters and not colored material. Like i said above:
The (image above) compounds a lot of empty space you should include some characters around the area so it doesn’t look bland and plain to players view.
Although the icon doesn’t give any information on what the game is about, while the lighting is a step further the icon in my opinion doesn’t look good as the rest of the empty space still suggest some form of objects including character effects light sources - street lamps and more to bring out the scene of the icon.
I do not believe the claw transparent image doesn’t fit the theme, since the icon doesn’t have that object included in the actual game. On the left side of the image try showing what the character is shooting at, I’d recommend adding more character and useful information.
At the start it’s a nice improvement but you can take it a step further.
