Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on retrieving data from a previous version of a file on my computer. I was trying to figure out why a script was not working in one of my save files, so I began deleting objects until it worked again. I got down to it being the only object left in the game, so I pressed the close button and went to reopen the file, but when the dialogue box asking me if I wanted to save popped up, I accidentally pressed my spacebar, triggering the “OK” button and writing over my file. I have already tried autosaves, for some reason there is none of this file. I just lost a few months of work, so I was wondering if there is any hope for me getting my save back. Thanks
Nope. Autosaves are only for when studio crashes. I recommend making a folder with all your versions instead of relying on autosaves.
If you haven’t used studio (specifically playtesting) since you deleted the object, you might be able to check visit.rbxl
, a local file stored somewhere in the installed folder.
That won’t work because it’s a local file on their computer.

oh that makes sense, yeah unless autosave did something when they ran the game theres no hope
Thanks anyway, lesson learned - DON’T save work only locally
You could use save as.
What if you lose internet?
