Can I use blood stats in my game?

I plan to add a blood stat along with food, water, etc. the purpose of the blood stat is to represent how much of it you would have in your player, the stat would go down if you get injured and your player would die if it runs out. is this allowed or is this too much?

I think this is allowed cause its something similar to life and heal stats.
So you should have no problem using it.

In your case, blood would mean how much health does player got. I just donā€™t see the reason for naming it ā€œbloodā€, but itā€™s your choice. Almost every game is using health/blood bar to show how much health does player got until they die.
So, yeah, in this case you can use the blood stat.

Awesomely made a great point.

A blood stat greatly resembles a health bar in function. You should be completely fine including that in your game. Just be wary of adding in blood effects into the game as gore conflicts with Terms of Service.

There is a difference between blood effects and gore. Blood is natural; we all have blood, and I have seen blood used in many games ā€“ particularly zombie games, such as Apocalypse Rising. Gore, however, is the unnecessary exaggeration of blood loss, violence, and overall dark as well as unfriendly content.

Clarification for the OP.

As everyone else has been saying having a blood stat is fine however it does depend on your use case. If you are only going to use blood for the stat and nothing else it should be fine. However if blood comes out of you when you loose blood from the stat then it wont be fine for Xbox.

I am not sure if blood references, including stats, are completely banned for Xbox but I know it does say clearly:

contains NONE of the following?

  • Blood or Gore

An alternative that could work if you need it could be ā€œvitalsā€
Itā€™s a bit more broad and could be applied to general health, but would also be affected by heavy trauma like blood loss.

I like vitals because it lets the player know this is the state they are preserving. ā€œBloodā€ could indicate to the user that theyre a vampire and need to collect blood rather than preserve it? Sorta like food/water bars, you typically seek food and water.

Hunger and thirst would be a good alternative to food/water in this case for similar reasons.

I was planning on maybe adding red small blood parts to represent a blood effect, and i dont plan on enabling usage on xbox. but pc is fine right?

I have just done a quick search on the terms of service and it says nothing about blood on it, I may be mistaken. I guess it should be fine to have a blood effect according to that, however try and not go over the top with it. I know this is a bad way to determine if something is allowed but some front page games have blood effects.

its not very graphic heavy, its just 1 or 2 small red objects that spawn at the players torso when their blood stat is depleting.

Perhaps I should have been more specific with blood being part of gore and gore being the issue.
Thanks for clarifying.

also, the game Im making is named: Infernum Island.
if infernum is put through google translate it will come up as hell Island (which describes the game pretty well)
would this be any problem?

As far as Iā€™m aware, you should be fine. Thereā€™s a popular game at the moment called Tower of Hell for starters, and to my knowledge I donā€™t recall anything notable being taken down due to using the word ā€˜hellā€™ in their title or whatever else. Others can feel free to correct me if Iā€™m wrong of course.

Your game is called Infernum Island instead of Hell Island anyway and I personally doubt many people are going to go look up what Infernum means in Google Translate, so I donā€™t think it should be a problem.
