Can I use catalog clothes in my game?

Hello!

I want to ask this question.

Can I use catalog clothing in my game, which I didn’t create?

I would love to know your opinions on It.

It won’t be used for TVRI project which I discontinued.

As I wanna make new one with game named Trustie Power Research Insitute. More will come about this in new article.

That’s like asking if you can wear the shirt you just bought off the catalog in any game; obviously you can.

I just wanted to make sure. So I won’t run in any problem. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, you’re completely allowed to use assets from the Roblox catalog in your game.

It’s not against Roblox Terms of Service, Community Guidelines or any other type of policy related to Roblox. You’re completely free to use them in your game, althrough you don’t affect DMCA policy’s of Roblox, that means, don’t say that they’re yours or use stolen models, scripts, assets, using an asset is just taking the ID of the clothing, you’re completely free to use it because the clothe is on public sale, it’s public to buy, I suggest you not using clothing that isn’t in sale.

By this do you mean only models or UGC items on the catalog. Could you Elaborate on which type on item on the catalog.

I mean It for clothing like shirts, pants and other stuff like this.

I have… zero clue why people are saying yes you can. No you can’t use them.

@infiniteRaymond Bad advice. Wearing things you bought and using them in a game for development purposes are two completely different things. Selling an item for wear =/= giving you a license to use it for any other purposes.

@vayouls Also bad advice. Terms of Use and Community Guidelines are very clear about prohibiting use of content you don’t have grounds to access. Buying a clothing item for your avatar doesn’t implicitly permit you to use it in your game. It being on sale doesn’t mean you can use it either. Would you buy a piece of candy (such as Coffee Crisp), repackage it, rebrand it and then sell it as your own creation? That’s a lawsuit waiting for you. If you wouldn’t do it in real life, don’t do it on Roblox.

So If I get permission from owner then I can use It. So better to create my own.

I am pretty sure it is perfectly fine because, I feel like there would have been a setting where people can’t copy the id and use them in game, plus it is really hard to get into contact with somebody who made a certain item of clothing.

Yes, correct.

@worldwarbattle What has the id being public got to do with that? An id is an id, whether it can be copied or not is irrelevant to permissive use of an item. Additionally, not being able to contact the creator is not an excuse for assuming they grant permission and then using their content.

Well. I did more research and here we go.

This mentions it outside of roblox, not inside of roblox, so we can use it inside of roblox?

You need permission form the owner of the shirts…

Kinda confusing why they make it so easy to use others clothing without being given access, you can literally copy others id’s and implement them in seconds into your game, I’ve seen literally hundreds of games use paid clothing that wasn’t theirs with no permission and nothing is done about it so I’m still not really sure on the rule myself even though I guess Roblox has this as a rule it is not enforced.

Even in Moon Animator 2 the character presets uses clothes from the catalog
