Can i use Meshed roads instead of using part roads?

Well,im just wondering if that is possible in roblox or not,im not sure yet tho,Has anyone tried before using the meshed roads?

  1. Im trying my best to make the place having Better performance at the place,I know meshes takes less parts and would be flexible and would take less Part size too

2.if i use Meshed roads,it would Probably Save me from using 7500 Parts,i believe,But,would that mess up the Collissions?

3.So im thinking it might be lot better if i use Meshed Roads instead of part roads,i just tested out how much does part infects on it,you can see the results at the screenshots

Would it be alot better if i use meshed roads or should i keep it simple and make it parts?

Thanks for helping me about this question!

You can always Union your parts to reduce the amount of parts.

Weeeeeeeeell…Im not sure unioning would be better or not,ive heard unions kinda makes it bit more laggy,as i only heard from it,sooo im not sure if it does or not,but i’d need to know info about can i make meshed roads and would they take cover of the roads i made from parts, thats what im looking for that answer

Can you? Sure, no one is stopping you from doing that. Should you? It depends. Meshes have more collision data than just a simple part, but can also decrease instance count. If your roads are mostly the same size and material, featherweight parts will allow for less memory compared to 10k unique instances, so it might not be worth it to use meshes, as meshes need unique collision data and mesh data.
Since it looks like you’ll have a lot more roads in the future, I would personally use meshes, just make sure to separate them into different meshes so that the collisions aren’t being weird and you don’t hit the 2048 size limit. Since your roads are flat they won’t have the collision issues that something like a tunnel or dip would have, so you won’t need to separate them as much. If possible, make flat roads that have a box/hull collision to make it use less memory for the collision data.

This is somewhat correct. Unions are worse than the 3D modeled counterpart, simply because the way roblox generates the tris for unions isn’t as efficient as something like Blender.

Actually, the problem was im not sure of was would collision might ruin the road,im pretty sure 2028 size limit wont be a much problem,i also prob would ask to myself would PCP colission would make it alright,i guess i gotta screenshot the entire map and remake the entire map roads with the lines, that would take cover of it,thanks! i’d keep this topic open until whenever i get the results!

About the union part,my old dev friend who quit deving just said that,so i prob learned it alot more about it,im happy with it! im trying my best to take cover of my place to be below 650 mb client usage, its around at 500-600(whenever you discover more),but scripts also would affect the game, idk but how that might make it tho.

anyways, ima keep the topic about it,ima start meshing the roads!
Thanks for the help Styre_x!
