So it’s possible to take the plugin file from your local roblox studio files, you can do this by getting the ID from the plugin and searching for it in your roblox studio files.
How can people possibly spread the file?
When you have that file somebody could just reupload that paid plugin/send it through discord. You can install the file via using roblox studio plugin file that is in the plugins section.
This could dramatically decrease sales on paid plugins, but you can’t really detect because its in the users windows files so it’s possible not to detect it.
In conclusion
People can share paid plugins without any cost and it’s easy to find them. I think it’s roblox’s end to fix people from finding the source code of a plugin so easily.
I don’t think you can get banned, unless if you distribute modified Plugins that includes backdoors or anything for malicious purposes.
Inserting a Plugin is like inserting a model into your game. They’re all made from Studio objects, just that these Plugins don’t actually appear in the Explorer, but on your Plugin tab.
Players are generally sceptical when it comes to downloading official Plugins. If they’re well-known, they’re most likely to only look for posts made by the official creator etc, but that’s just my opinion.
If you don’t get caught by the developer, you should be fine.
I also believe they can DMCA if they find out and have proof of it.
If your paranoid or scared you can try running a pirated plugin on an alt and see if anything happens, I doubt nothing will happen but you can just to be safe.
The only real risk is that roblox might have some hash detection, so to combat that just edit the file a little bit and if they do have one it should bypass it.
DMCA is for copyright, so basically if i resell it for a price then they can take it down. Think of a entire steam game on roblox, they can take it down.
