Can you have a plugin script with children

I was wondering if you could save a script with a folder as its child as a plugin or would it not work.

Yes you can, there are lots of plugins that do this.

Actually, that is incorrect, I believe.

You can only have a Folder as the plugin’s topmost Instance for it to store children (I may be wrong but children of scripts never works if the script is the plugin base).
