Can you use newgrounds songs on roblox?

Hello im not sure is this is the right topic but if you have permission to use a Newgrounds song can you use it on your roblox game?

If you have the right license to use it, for example, commercial, then it should be fine. Personal is for yourself to listen, not to be use in any project that can make you money. If commercial, you can use in any project you want, especially Roblox.

This applies for most websites as well, but most, if not all audio tracks from Newgrounds are protected by a copyright license. They are distributed with a Creative Commons license, meaning you have the ability to use the music as long as you meet certain conditions such as giving credit to the artist who created the music and using the track in non-commercial material and refraining from using it on commercial material.

If you are planning to generate revenue or profit off of the game, then it is classified as commercial material and you do not have permission to use the music, even if you credit the original artist.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions.

Okay thanks for replying! this will help me on the future

I would say that all games in Roblox have a potential to generate profit because any game can have premium members playing them and then when it gets enough traffic, the developer will receive payment. I count the Roblox games to be a commercial project. When I look for songs in my games and if audio files uploaded by Roblox doesn’t fit my game, I will look elsewhere that is public domain and royalty free. You can also make your own sound effects. I recorded my own teeth chomping for one of my games.

Good point, I suppose no games may use copyrighted songs, regardless if it contains a Creative Commons license. One would most likely have to acquire and purchase the rights to use a copyrighted song in their game. Even then, moderators will most likely be unaware of the fact that the uploader of the music track possesses a license, leading them to take down the audio.

Typically this is the opposite: moderators assume you do have permission to use whatever content you’re uploading. A lot of platforms do this, not just Roblox. Takedowns typically occur if they receive such a request from the IP owner or already have standing documentation about a track’s licensing situation (which, in that case, the scenario is they assume you don’t have permission until proven).
