This concept for a sci-fi monorail is for a game I’m working on, known as “Guided Space”. The game itself is intended to take place around a massive futuristic space colony, with a bit of mystery lore added in. The unit above currently stands at almost 400 individual parts, but I do plan on converting the Roblox part geometry into meshes, both for performance and security reasons. It’s unpainted at this time, but I also plan to add a nice little futuristic logo and flair to it.
Design
The design of this concept, also known as “Hyperion”, is inspired by a large yacht and variants of the B&M “Twister” rollercoaster trains. It doesn’t have any visible wheels, as it uses magnetic levitation (“maglev”) technology. Because of this, the monorail track can safely and properly have maneuvers, like loops, twists, and embankments. The reason for the splits between the unit are to allow for physical articulation. I plan to use rod constraints to connect them.
The overall dimensions of the unit are a tad too small for Roblox players, so I’ll find a way to either reduce player scale or enable the unit to be “self-propelled” (the “player” is the unit itself).
Recruiting
Guided Space is looking to hire GFX artists and programmers. Builders are also of interest, but saved for later, as the game is still in very early stages of development.
