Hello everyone, I’m LandofLee!
I recently made a game with vhgsvi3736 and@Nova_MrRoyal and I’d love to share it with all of you.
The game is called CandyLand. It is a more social game geared towards 10 and under (but older players are welcome too).
Basically, you collect candy (common candies spawn on the island, uncommon candies in the ocean(but there is a catch! The water is deadly) The more candies you collect, the cooler things you can buy (trails, titles, emotes, boosts, etc). The game is definitely more focused on the visuals and the secret areas.
CandyLand is now open for testing and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the gameplay, builds, etc. If you have any questions or feedback please feel free to DM me or reply below.
This looks amazing! , very well build and made, I really love these kinds of ‘‘collecting’’ games, i hope you will continue to work on it and i hope it will turn out great. sincerely Dion
Great game, the theme is perfect from the terrain to the models. Iove what seems to be icecream mountains with sprinkles on top. One crticism I have is I was a bit lost on where to go. Other than that it is great. Keep it up.
@Nanoswamp
Yes, I have realized that too. I tried adding signs to direct players, there should be a candy path soon that leads to the bridges. Do you have any suggestions on how to direct players better?
After playing it for a short while, I can say the terrain and the overall looks pretty neat. Definitely helped it on the gamer chart.
What I would love to see is more visual and audio feedback, like the shop opening, or picking up candy. Took me like 20 seconds to realise that the boost tab in the shop doesn’t open anything yet.
I also didn’t understand the bar at the bottom-left corner. What was it representing? After getting ~100 candies it reached 20/100, which was very unintuitive.
Nice game, looks really good, and I can see some potential in it. The terrain looks cool, and i especially like those mountains with the sparkles on top, but here are some things that you can work on, that I noticed while playing the game.
visual and audio feedback…can you explain that? Yeah, the boosts are still being worked on, I hope to add 2x candy boosts, speed, and jumping boosts soon. The bar is your level bar. For every minute you play 10 xp is rewarded to you. I’m going to add some perks that come with certain levels players reach.
Yes, I noticed the loading screen was like that, I’m planning on fixing it soon. Details such as? I’m working on furniture right now. The houses are supposed to be a little simple, it’s just the game’s style.
I actually didn’t make the UIs (@Nova_MrRoyal did), but we can probably add a text above the bar that says “Level” or something.
As in, when you open a menu, you hear a sound. If a feature is coming soon, it should say so on the screen. If you’re in the water and take damage, you could play a sound.
Basically, make the game easier to understand. Cheers!
The music is nice, and you have a nice original foundation with your models. I may suggest trying a more colorful palette for the terrain itself, as everything itself stands out as very vibrant and colorful (which I love).
Yes! A brighter green would be great, and don’t be afraid to try other grass colors like pinks, it can look great if you set it up right. Same goes for the general atmosphere, you can use different ColorCorrection however you see fit.
Honestly looks great so far however, the stream of chocolate syrup (water) is a tad bumpy and im not sure if this is the look you want however it’d look nicer smooth. I also suggest adding more detail and changing up the terrain colors quite a bit. Hope this helps
Overall, It’s a lovely build. Try and pay attention to more detail in the buildings. Also, mixing up the shapes and colors of the trees would drastically change the quality of the game altogether. Hope this helps! :))
