Cannot Select Correct Parts

Reproduction Steps

  • Insert multiple parts
  • Position them at various locations behind desired part
  • Attempt to select desired part at different angles

System Information
11th Gen Intel Core i7 @ 2.50 GHz, 16 GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

Beta Features
CSG Version 3, Face Capture, Intuitive Debugger, Live Animation Creator, New Character Controller, New Text Chat Service, Notched Screen Support, Save Rig With Animation, Selection and Navigation Improvements in Explorer, Selection Improvements, Upgrade Shorelines

Expected Behavior
Only the Mouse.Target should be selected rather than parts in the background.

Actual Behavior
At certain angles, selecting parts becomes highly inconsistent. Although I have experienced this on parts of varying sizes, it most often occurs with smaller parts as can be seen in the attached video. As can be seen, studio iterates through every part behind the one my mouse is hovering over, before actually selecting the desired part.

NOTE: Although my cursor jumps to the lower right in the video, this did not visibly occur while I was recording. I presume part of the cause may be due to a one frame difference that involves changing the cursor’s position and selecting something else.

Probably because they used pairs instead of ipairs in the source code.

Yeah, disabling the beta feature “fixes” the issue (selection cycling is included in the beta). It’s quite weird that this only happens on certain angles. Although, it doesn’t seem to have a difference when changing the size of the part.

Thanks for the report! We’ll take a look.
