Repro:
Load an empty baseplate, add a single (non-locked) part
Note how you can select it by clicking it in the 3D world
Deselect the part
Filter the datamodel tree by searching for something that filters out the part, such as Lighting
Note how you can no longer select the part by clicking it in the 3D world, until the part becomes nonfiltered in the Explorer search
I’m unsure when this started happening, but I did not experience this on W7 a few weeks ago, now on W10 I do. I think it is pretty recent.

I can still select the part when I click on it in the 3D view. When you click on the part, does it get a blue selection box in the 3D view? Do the properties in the properties widget change correctly? If not, can you record what you are doing?

Nope

edit: Worth noting that dragging around does still work even when a part is filtered. It just doesn’t actually select the part.

Do you have any plugins installed that are causing this issue?

I had two plugins installed, disabling them and rebooting studio did not resolve it, sadly.
I have also tried using the new lighting prototype studio build, that one exhibits the same issue.

This also happens to me. I thought it was intended. It should be fixed/disabled though.
Confirmed. Windows 10 as well.
