Can't Add Friends in a Team Create Group Game

I’m trying to add my friend as a developer on a game on team create, which is under a group that I own. However, when I try to add the user directly, it only allows me to give him permission to play, but not edit. He has been in the group for a long time and also been my friend for a long time, so it should be possible.

Reproduction Steps

  • Create a group game by saving/publishing a new place, and then use the pop-up to set the creator of the game to a group that you own.
  • Click on collaborate, and click “add users” at the top of the list. Type in the name of the user you’re trying to add that is on your friend’s list. Notice that you will not be able to give your friend permissions to edit because “[The] user must be a friend to edit.”

This problem seems to occur on any group with any game from what I’ve tested.

We’ve filed a ticket to our internal database, and we’ll follow up when we have an update.

Thanks for the report!

Hi @gamerobotjimmy,

The behavior you’re seeing is actually expected: for group-owned games, any individual collaborators added can only have Play access, not Edit access (even if friends). Apologies for the confusion - we have some updates around clarifying these workflows in our documentation that will be released shortly.

You mentioned your friend is a member of the group, so the way to grant them Edit access would be to see what role your friend has within the group, and grant that role Edit access.

Please follow up if you have any further questions. Thanks!
