Can't change my password at all because of stupid ratelimit

When I try to change my password 2-step verification window appears then I enter the code from my email and then “Something went wrong, please try again later”

so basically I checked the network logs first it sends the post request to https://auth.roblox.com/v2/user/passwords/change and returns 403 then the 2-step verification thing goes in I enter the code and then:

Hello and thanks for reaching out!

We have some request limitations in place by design to prevent abuse. You should be able to retry after some time has passed, or you may be able to try again sooner from a different device or location.

This limit is too strict, when you send a POST request to https://auth.roblox.com/v2/user/passwords/change and you have 2FA first it will respond with 403 error code then the 2FA thing opens up and when you enter the code or smh it sends a POST request to https://auth.roblox.com/v2/user/passwords/change again and this time you get 429

You think I haven’t tried? I tried waiting like one hour. And besides why should I waste so much of my time on this. I already said above that the limit is too strict and if you have 2FA it doesn’t let you send the request second time.

I don’t have a different device
Wdym location??? I am supposed to fly into another country and it will be fixed magically?

I STILL cannot change my password. Raise up the ratelimit just by one request per N time or make a hotfix for ignoring the request and not adding it into the rate limit queue if it was initiated and returned 403 because of 2FA. C’mon it’s so easy to do. Unless your guys backend is written on assembly.

you could maybe try to reset it with the “forgot password” feature? worth a shot…

BTW This would help me with my personal issue, not with the bug. The bug report I sent still needs to be reviewed and fixed ASAP because it’s a high priority one associated with the account security. No idea how they ignore this and even marked it as “Closed”?!?!?!?!

As in that one button while logging?

Hello again!

Could you DM me the username you were trying to change password with? I will have the team look into why you are hitting the 429 error so often—sometimes this can be because you’re on an IP address that is shared by many people through your ISP.

In the meantime, feel free to try one of the existing suggestions:

  • Use the "Forgot Password’ feature on the Login page
  • Try changing your password from a different IP address (e.g. a different WiFi hotspot)

Thanks!

It’s fixed now. Waited >9days first for a fix then to just change my password huh.
