Can't drag Creator Store toolbox models into workspace since yesterday

Windows 11
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core Processor
GPU0: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
GPU1: AMD Radeon™ Graphics
Memory: 32.0 GB Usage: 31.2 GB

I’ve disabled all beta features, reinstalled Studio, restarted my computer, reset all Studio settings and tried in several different projects to move things (models in the Creator Store, regardless of having input a search or dragged from the front page, other tabs all work fine) from the toolbox into the workspace by dragging. This worked just fine until I restarted Studio yesterday to test the new beta feature that changes the way sound works, but I’ve since disabled all beta features and tried to search everywhere to find a solution.

Expected behavior

Dragging things from the toolbox into workspace should work regardless of which tab I find the models in.

Example above is what happens when dragging a model from the “Creations” tab. Previously, the “Creator Store” tab allowed dragging models into workspace in this same way.
**edited to clarify i restarted my computer as well

One quick thing to check: make sure the model isn’t showing any errors or permission issues in the Creator Store tab. Sometimes if a model’s not approved or has limitations set by the creator, it won’t drag correctly even if it shows up.
Also, Studio’s sound beta may have changed how certain tabs load assets—so even if you’ve disabled it, it might be worth clearing the Studio cache manually just to fully reset things.

I tried dragging a model I’ve already used in the project into the workspace just now, still nothing. How do I clear studio’s cache? that sounds like it might work.

Try this method,

  1. Close Roblox Studio completely.
  2. On your keyboard, press Win + R to open the Run prompt.
  3. Type this and hit Enter: %localappdata%\Roblox
  • Inside the folder that opens, delete the folder called Versions

I deleted the entire folder and another one with the program files and reinstalled Studio, problem still persists.

if the full reinstall didn’t work, it might be deeper than cached data. Try logging out of Studio, then deleting this folder %localappdata%\Roblox\ClientSettings

find and delete the ClientSettings folder (if it exists)

If this fails too, then something fundamental about how Roblox operates has clearly shifted.

Doesn’t work, I’d deleted and reinstalled the entire %localappdata%\Roblox folder, and it was still broken. I tried only deleting the ClientSettings folder, same results.

I hope this reaches someone at HQ so they can look into what might’ve changed with recent updates.

Might be something we have to report as a bug then, I can’t think of any other solution to this.

Hi @PrincessBabyNeko,

Thanks for reporting! We’re currently working to fix this.

Hi @PrincessBabyNeko,

Just to clarify, do click insertions work for you? We’re still looking into the drag insertion issues.

We reverted the flag that we believe caused this. Let us know after about an hour if you still get this.

I believe I am still having this issue. I tried inserting the decal “inverted default face” into the rig for my character, instead I could only insert it through clicking the decal from the toolbox and moving it onto the part in Explorer. Same with models and anything else. Happened just a few minutes ago as-of writing this.

Nevermind! Clearing cache worked wonders.
