Can't Log In to PS5 - All Methods

Issue #1: PS5 does not support two factor authentication. This issue specifically should likely be a feature request.

Issue #2: Trying to log in by putting in my username and password, after disabling two factor authentication, doesn’t work for me. It gives me an error that says my account is already connected to a PlayStation network and that I need to wait 90 days. This is false. I went to my Roblox settings and Disconnected by account from the PS5. It was connected in the first place when I tried logging in via a quick log in or QR code. That did not actually log me in, my screen on the PS5 prompted me to log in via username and password after the QR code and quick login code failed to.

To replicate issue #1 just have two factor on your account and try to log in to a PS5.

To replicate issue #2, try to log in via all methods with 2FA enabled. If you are logged in, then maybe it’s an issue with my account, idk. If you’re not logged in, great, that’s what’s happening for me. Next, check to see if there’s a connection to your PS5. For me, there was despite not being logged in. Next, I disconnected the PS5 from my account via the Roblox mobile app. Then, disable 2FA, and try to log in via all methods. For me, I was still unable to log in.

Expected behavior

I expect to be able to log in via the QR code or the Quick-Login on my PS5 for my account (having 2FA or not). Both did not work for me.

I also expect when I Disconnect a console (PS5) from my account via my Settings, that it properly updates the Roblox PS5 app. When I try logging with 2FA disabled, I get told my account is connected to another PlayStation network or whatever. When, it’s not based on what I see in my settings on my Roblox Mobile Phone app. So, I expect to be able to log in without the error message telling me my account is connected to something when I already disconnected it. Maybe there’s a cool down for the disconnection. :person_shrugging: (Not the 90 days thing, that’s far too long imo to try again).

Additionally, but this is outside of this bug report, I expect to be able to log in with 2FA.

I feel like I’m repeating myself, apologies if so.

Hi, thanks for making this report. We’ll look into it on our side and see if we’re able to reproduce. While we do so, can you let us know 1.) If the issue is still happening today and 2.) Can you confirm that you’re using the same PlayStation account to login that you tried the first time?

Thanks!

To give an update on this bug report, I am moving IRL this Thursday. The PS5 mentioned here i cannot take with me. I will do my best to try logging in again before I leave. I will update this thread when I have more info.

Tried again today, still didn’t work. 90 days is too long to wait for the same account. Please change that. I can try making a feature request if need be.

Hi again, sorry for the delay. I was sick last week and couldn’t test this. The 90 day restriction should only apply when switching which PlayStation account is being used.

While we try to reproduce the problem, could you attempt to login to Roblox using any of the other PlayStation accounts that may have been on the PlayStation?

No worries; that’s totally understandable. I can no longer log in to the same PS5 console, not any console, at this time. I’m currently at college now and don’t have access to one.

I don’t think I logged in to any other PlayStation account when testing the behavior or anytime recently. Not on the same specific PS5, nor a different console.

I personally think the 90 day limit is too long, but that is not what I think the core issue is for this bug report. What I think is happening is that when trying to log in to console, and it fails because there is 2FA enabled, and some code is not properly setting things back to normal. To clarify, I think Roblox is connecting my account to the console when logging in fails. The logging in fails because I had 2FA enabled, which console doesn’t support. And, since I tried to log in, one of or more than one method of trying to log in on console broke my account (to where Roblox thinks there was a connection when I’m obviously not logged in).

Hi, we’ve tried to reproduce the issue and were unable to.

The exact steps we used were:

  1. Taking an account with 2FA enabled, specifically an authenticator app, with no PS account linked
  2. Attempt to use quick login to login on PlayStation

At this point, the login succeeded.

We also tried

  1. Taking an account with 2FA enabled, specifically an authenticator app, with no PS account linked
  2. Attempt to use email and password to login on PlayStation
  3. The app prompts you to use quick login
  4. Use quick login

Again, at this point the login succeeded.

Are there any more details that you think might be changing the result here?

Hi; I really appreciate the effort!

When I encountered the issue I did not use an authenticator app, I only used the email authentication 2FA and disabling it. Other than that I can’t think of anything.

Hi, unfortunately we’re still unable to reproduce this even with email 2FA instead of an authenticator app.

Alright, thanks again for the effort.

To reiterate, I don’t know when I’ll have access to a PS5 and thus can’t try to log in now (nor when the 90 day limit passes). I have access to making new bug reports, so if I encounter the issue in the future, I can make a new report and link this one. Feel free to close this.
