Hey, i was making a car everything would work fine if the back wheels move the car. The wheels actually rotate but they don’t move the car forward or backword it is like if there isn’t any friction, I also tried to use the friction parameter in the CustomPhysicalProperties but it doesn’t work.
The wheels are connected to the body with CylindricalConstraints:
As you can see in the video the wheel’s hitbox rotates so it means that the code actually works but anyways the car won’t move. Do you have any suggestion?
Do you have any Anchored Parts in the car? That would allow the wheels to rotate but not move the car.
Also your front wheels seem to be pushed into the ground slightly, and when they steer they are turning into the ‘Chassis’ Part of the car. Is the ‘Chassis’ Part CanCollide off to allow the wheels to turn and rotate? If it isn’t then the contact between the wheels and Part may be acting like brakes and stopping the car.
There’s a Setting in Studio that allows you to see red spheres at any contact between 2 Parts. It’s called “Show Contacts” and is great for troubleshooting moving vehicles like this.
Nothing is anchored except the constraints and if i try to unachor them they automatically turn in amchored again also the front wheels are suppoesed to go into the chassis because i connected them to the chassis with NoCollisionConstraint.
Ok i will try it, also i saw that article but i don’t want to follow it for 2 reasons:
1 the steering system would push the wheels into the car body that i will add next
2 it uses a script that i didn’t make and i consider it like a free model so i don’t like that
With the show contact setting on as you can see in the video below there is contact between the ground and the wheels, there are no anchored parts, the front wheels have NoCollisionConstraint with the chassis, with the chassis’ CanCollide off nothing changes, i also tried to remove the steering wheels and turning them into normal but nothing changed.
In this video the chassis’ CanCollide is true but it’s the same, i also moved one of the wheels away from the chassis and nothing changes.
@Scottifly and @xam345 I have a little update basically i made another car with no steering wheels, no CylindricalConstraints and no Springs, i used only Hinges but there isn’t any big difference, the car moves a bit but it’s not working fine…
Video:
As you can see in the video the car moves a bit but it’s like vibrating, the wheels vibrate but the attachments are at the same position.
Ok i solved it, the problem was that the CylindricalConstraints rotating the front wheels were badly orientated and were going in contrast with the back ones.
