Cartoon Lighting Help

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently started developing a simulator game, and the map along with the core are now complete. However, as I can’t do everything on my own, I’ve been stuck on the lighting side of things for a while.

I’m currently looking for ideas and suggestions, particularly around creating cartoon-style lighting presets. I’d really appreciate any tips or guidance you might have.

Thanks in advance.

Mainly Simulators will utilize “ColorCorrection”. Specifically, Saturaction Properties. This can make the game vibrant and very colorful.

Another thing simulators use very simplistic textures. They often use Plastic Materials, or other alternative Cartoon Textures, which some like “Add Easy Textures” (Plugin) provide Simplistic Textures.

Also Simulators doesn’t often use complicated models. What I mean by that is instead having complex shapes, its mostly just simplified and low poly models.

Focus on simplicity of the lighting, don’t overthink it. Make it very colorful and very vibrant. Pet simulator does give the best example of Cartoony game. You can observe it and take inspiration from it.

Hope it helps!
