Catalog item pages load infinitely when logged out

Description of Bug


This bug occurs when refreshing/viewing sponsored items of a catalog items, when logged out. When done so, the details of the item takes forever to load.

It should be expected that, when logged out and refreshing the pages of the items/viewing sponsored items,

On any catalog item page logged out. You can use the Retro Arcade Game page as an example.

As far as 25th August, 2023, but it could have been occurring for much longer.

Repro Steps


  1. Log out of your account and view any catalog item, or the link I’ve attached.
  2. Refreshing or attempting to view its sponsored items will make the details portion of the catalog item page load infinitely.

Sorry, but is there a fix being implemented for this? It has been 5 months and the issue is still occurring.

Hi MsDeborah, firstly, sorry for late response.

This was an expected behavior indeed. However, we recently decided to loosen the throttling limit by another reason since 4/3/2024. You might face this if you try to reload the page a lot, but you will be fine with normal usage.
