Cave Explorer 2, a VR exclusive action adventure!

After months in development, it’s finally here! Cave Explorer 2!

I’ve put a lot of work into this one, and i think it really paid off!

If you’re been following me on the devforum, you’ve likely seen some of these already

For starters, we have more stuff in the actual caves! like treasure chests with useful items.


also including a character based inventory system!

I used an xbox Kinect for the character animations


and lemme tell ya, they turned out… just right :weary: :ok_hand:

I also played around a lot with skinned meshes and SurfaceAppearance objects

… This is awesome!
Details are good, animations are good, sound effects are cool, voices are good.
Just a question: how can you detect if a player is using a vr?

In the last video hands are a bit strange.

I’m very Exited for this game! I don’t have a VR Headset of my own! But I may be able to get one on Christmas!

I love it!!! Great Job Greg keep it up. The story inside this amazing story based game only exclusive to VR really just sums up your ready for the future! Also One thing, during a Roblox VR Organized Event I stated that are you going to make tutorials on how to make a VR games (like make it exclusively for VR and/or both PC and VR) hopefully soon but this is great :+1: love playing it such an inspiration to me man :sunglasses:

Yeah, it’s been a very long journey. lots of setbacks on this one…

you know, I’ve always wanted to try and make some kind of basic VR tutorial myself… just for like… basic reference to help people get their head around how to get started.

Love it. I have been trying to make some “realistic” animations by using real people and you just gave me the idea to use Kinect as a motion capture. Thanks man. Great game and love that you are using a vr experience rather than a first person experience.

I followed this tutorial here:

you can import fbx animations to skinned meshes now, so it works out quite nice.

May I ask how to export blender animations to roblox? I have been trying to do that for a while.

Besides that question, the trailer is amazing. RIP my heart when I play that and get jumpscared. Anyways, looks awesome. Can’t wait to try it out. Ping me when it is released. Looking forward to more updates!

Also, skinned meshes can accept .fbx files for their animations!

It’s a rotational PID controller.
so it has a goal rotation, and applies a rotational velocity (with some dampening) to reach it.
