Certain Buttons Not Working Anymore

I’ve had repeating issues of specific studio functions just not working anymore. I’ve reinstalled studio completely, even using revo uninstaller to find every roblox file on my pc including registry editor entries.

It started like 6 months ago, with my asset manager no longer opening places when click on. I don’t know if this is a new update/feature that I missed where you can no longer open places via the asset manager, but it’s incredibly obnoxious.

Now whenever I receive a notification that my studio needs an update I cannot click the blue “Update” button.

When clicked on, studio does not close/restart/update. Nothing happens, even in task manager nothing new opens.

The File> Open from Roblox doesn’t open a fresh studio page either… nothing changes.

I have no antiviruses outside of windows default defender, and I’ve tried even disabling that and nothing happens.

I’m not continuously completely uninstalling studio and reinstalling it fresh every time I want to update it. Is there something im missing, because this is completely out of hand to the point studio is not worth the effort it takes to keep it up to date, or even use etc…

I have two other developers on one of my dev teams who experience the EXACT same two bugs, and they can’t figure out it either.

I can only assume this is an engine bug to where new instances of roblox studio do not open from within the original studio page.
Also studio gives me no errors in the output when any of these buttons are clicked. If there is any other course of action I can do please let me know.

I’ve tried restarting my computer, clean reinstalling 3-4 times, Im at a loss…

Quick edit: I have 0 plugins enabled!!!

I’m not having this issue, any repro steps?

Have you tried clearing cache? I know you mentioned you clean installed numerous times, but I’d recommend clearing cache.

Hi, for the Update change, does it update after closing studio and restarting? If there’s an update available, it should always update once you launch Studio. (Not uninstall, just run)

Also, what version are you currently on? The “open from roblox…” was fixed a few versions ago.

Hello, thanks for the reply!

I clicked the update button and nothing happened. After restarting studio it stayed on the previous version, and still has the update notification.

I reinstalled it like 1 month ago because the buttons weren’t working, bringing me to the newest version at the time.

Then roblox made an update (roughly around the day I made this post) , and I still couldn’t click the update button so I reported this bug.

Yesterday, after I made this report, I reinstalled once again now being on the most current version (as of writing this).

I can confirm all my other buttons (Asset Manager/ Open From Roblox) still do not work!

I cannot tell you if the update button still doesn’t work as of the most recent install (1 day ago) because…it’s the most current version, so there is no update button.

Thanks again!

Like temp files? can you send me a proper tutorial. I’m not familiar with clearing app cache on pc? but I used revo uninstaller which to my knowledge does 99% of the work for you and is pretty deep cleaning.

;3; sorry im silly.

Edit: i deleted all temp files on my pc if thats wut u meant and nothing still.

I wish, but its quite literally just something that happened and I don’t know how. It just hasn’t worked for like 4-5 months maybe longer for me. That’s actually the only reason I joined this bug thing.

Before you ask, Yes, I had to make sure my click was loud.

So prior to sorting out the button clicks, I’d like to resolve the updates. If studio is closed and you launch it should automatically update if there’s one available. Is that not happening here? How are you launching into Studio? Can you screen shot your version and/or DM a log just to make sure you’re not in some wonky state there? (I would think uninstall would do it, but uninstall shouldn’t be necessary and interaction should not be necessary on a fresh restart after closing all Studio instances)
