The problem
One thing i’ve vaguely noticed recently is a lot of people using #forum-feedback:forum-help for general roblox support, at first I kind of assumed they were just stereotypically ignoring the rules and crapposting, however what I came to realise is it is not entirely their fault.
The current template for #forum-feedback:forum-help is as follow:
Now why is this a problem?
If we broke down the phrase ‘Forum Help’ it could be interpreted in two ways:
- Help with things related to the forum
- Help for things with the help provided by the forum
Neither of these is actually the one ‘correct’ answer, they are both equally right.
We could be pedantic here and say the first is technically correct given the fact context is relevant but given most people don’t bother reading the category guidelines post I think its better to have slightly better UX then no improvement at all
Despite this, after a moderate deal of thought there is no appropriate way to rename the category, therefor the only viable solution in my opinion is to have a different template, especially since the current one is effectively setting people up to fail since its incredibly similar to the template for categories like scripting support.
The solution
Since changing the title is not really viable since currently it is as accurately named as possible, I would like to propose changing the base template of the #forum-feedback:forum-help category to the following:
This category is for help using the forum, Development issues should go in #help-and-feedback
My problem with the developer forum is…
This is by no means a perfect template and a better one could be easily though of, however the starter sentence: My problem with the developer forum is… Gives a lot less room for error and confusion.
