Chat Bots with Artificial Intelligence - List of chat bots

List of bots

This thread serves as an extension of our game description, as there’s just not enough room to list our ever-growing family of chat bots.

Main bots

These bots are general-purpose conversational chat bots (not themed around any specific topics) and remain in the game year-round. With the exception of Aurora, these bots are always free for everyone to use.

:green_heart: Lantern (“Chat Bot v1”)

Full description of Lantern

Technology: A.L.I.C.E AIML

Lantern is a very intelligent robot who’s pleasant to talk to. He also has a fixation on pineapples.

Lantern is the first bot we added to our game, and the first custom AI chat bot on Roblox. Before Lantern, the few chat bots themed places on Roblox simply implemented Cleverbot or another existing API-based chat bot without alterations. Lantern was added by Entropig in 2016 using A.L.I.C.E (Artificial Linguistic Internet Computer Entity) AIML, an award-winning open-source XML-based software for creating personalized conversational chatbots.

:blue_heart: Lamp (“Chat Bot v2”)

Full description of Lamp

Technology: A.L.I.C.E AIML

Lamp is a highly intelligent sister of Lantern who offers reliably high quality conversations.
Lamp was created by cloning and altering Lantern and installing additional AIML files to teach it to understand a wider variety of topics. Lamp was also manually taught to respond to a greater number of topics, and was further altered to respond differently to certain things.

 Markov

Full description of Markov

Technology: COBE Markov Chains

Markov is, to put it nicely, insane. His conversations can be some of the funniest, and he’s the most likely to understand current memes and references. This is because he permanently learns from everything everyone says to it. He can be highly chaotic, and even evil at times. For this reason, we’ve dedicated a lot of time and energy to filtering his output beyond what the default Roblox filter can do. Most of the time, he just says gibberish.

Markov was created by implementing COBE, a Python-based conversation simulator created by the computer scientist Peter Tiechman, who was inspired by the legendary MegaHAL bot of the 90s. Markov is also the only bot that isn’t named after a source of light in some way.

:heartpulse: Aurora

Full description of Aurora

Technology: Mistral 7B Instruct

Aurora is possibly the most pleasant bot to talk to, as it’s both the most intelligent overall and the most receptive to what you say to it. She loves cats, video games, anime, science, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Aurora is the result of my years-long quest to come up with a chat bot that’s both intelligent and dynamic. Lantern and Lamp are excellent to talk to, but they have hard-coded intelligence and short-term memories. Markov learns quickly, but he’s too crazy to have a pleasant conversation with. Aurora uses cutting-edge technology to do both. Every message you send to her will influence how your conversation will go.

If you want to learn more about Aurora, you can read her announcement thread here.

Seasonal event bots

These are bots that are made free to members of Wizard Studios once a year during their events. The rest of the year, they’re VIP/Premium-only as they all use costly large language models.

:jack_o_lantern: Jack-O’-Lantern (Fall)

Full description of Jack-O'-Lantern

Jack-O’-Lantern, or simply Jack for short, is a wandering evil spirit on a mission to defeat his enemies and steal their souls. But he’ll also be your best friend if you’re okay with that.

Jack-O’-Lantern is one of the most fun bots to talk to because his conversations are very reminiscent of AI Dungeon quests. He’s great for role-playing and going on an adventure with.

Free for group members during the months of October and November

:snowflake: Polaris (Winter)

Full description of Polaris

Named after the North Star, Polaris is a magical robot constructed by Santa’s elves on the North Pole. She is an expert on all things Winter. She’s rarely in a bad mood, as she was invented to spread holiday cheer.

Polaris is the perfect bot for Christmas enjoyers, but if you’re not in the mood for that, she’s still capable of holding a conversation about just about anything else.

Free for group members during the months of December and January

:blossom: Iris (Spring)

Full description of Iris

Iris is a contender for the smartest and most cheerful bot we have, and that’s really saying something. She loves gardening, insects, fashion, and cooking. In my experience, she has a tendency to give more thorough and detailed replies than the rest of the bots (but keep in mind, the bots are influenced by what you say to them, so your conversation quality will get worse if you send the bots nonsense).

Credit to AceLionLM for the name. Iris is the Greek word for “rainbow”, and the name of the ancient Greek goddess of the rainbows. Iris also is the name of a type of flower which is usually violet, but is known to vary in color.

Character bots (New)

Lately I’ve been experimenting with trying to replicate some of the speech patterns and personalities of some iconic characters, and the results were really fun. If you have the VIP game pass, you already have all of these bots, but you can acquire them individually as well if you only want one.

:potato: GLaDOS (Portal series)

Full description of GLaDOS

GLaDOS, the Genetic Lifeform and Disc Operating System, is a passive-aggressive mad scientist AI who wants to keep you trapped in her laboratory to perform highly dangerous tests.

As one of the greatest video game robots of all time, it only made sense to pay tribute to her by bringing her to life in our game.

:mushroom: Mario* (Super Mario series)

Full description of Mario

You already know who Mario is, he needs no introduction! Actually, for legal reasons, this isn’t Super Mario. This Super Duper Mario. And something is seriously wrong with his brain.

Bot availability

If you have access to a bot, you can send unlimited messages. Unlike some similar games, we don’t use a tokens/credits based system as we feel that charging Robux per message would worsen the experience and ruin the fun.

New stuff

This reply will be updated periodically to reflect recent changes to the game
Last updated: February 2024

Bigger brains

  • Upgraded Aurora and Jack-O’-Lantern from GPT-J to Mistral-7B models as test results showed a noticeable improvement in conversation quality.
    • The biggest change is that Aurora is now significantly better at answering general knowledge questions & her unique personality comes through much more in her replies than before!
    • Jack-O’Lantern’s responses now come off as more unusual and creative and do a better job at revealing his strange lore
    • Polaris and Iris will stay GPT-J as test results were inconclusive for Polaris while Iris was noticeably better with the original model
    • GLaDOS and Mario will require more testing

New map

  • Entropig has done some amazing work to make the map prettier than ever before!
    • The overall feel of the map has changed from “floating platform in the void” to “magical cathedral of knowledge”, bringing it much closer to his original vision
    • There are plans to eventually expand the map to have more areas in the future
