Chat unnecessarily filtering text

Recently the filtering of chat has got to an extreme level, and it’s far past the point of being reasonable. Today, in chat (using TextChatService ofc), I said the following and it tagged:

  • “yeah”
  • “zoom”
  • “update”
  • “I”
  • “assessment”
  • “assess”
  • “SHH”
  • “coupler”

Most of these were pretty consistent, but some depended on context.
Often, after one or more tagged messages, every single message after was tagged, until around 30 seconds passed or I said something like “e” or “.”, although this was inconsistent.

These issues have affected multiple games I know on an operational level, like trainings, where basic messages, that were never an issue before and obviously are completely innocent, are tagged for no obvious reason. This extreme filtering is destroying the experience of users and staff in games.

Expected behavior

None of these phrases or any normal sentences should be filtered. Potentially filtering could revert to when it was just individual words or phrases that were tagged, instead of entire messages.

i think 5 and 6 are obvious but yeah being filtered is nonsense

This one is reasonable IMO.
Anyways, yeah the filter is bad sometimes you can’t say ANYTHING without being tagged for over a minute straight.

I understand why it’s filtered but as a whole word like that it shouldn’t be. I highly doubt anyone is going to try and bypass the filter by using “assess” as a replacement.

I get so annoyed whenever I say something like “462 Coins” and it tags (Since Roblox tags numbers for saftey reasons) but then its so annoying when I get chat tagged for a minute and even if I say something as simple as “Hi” it tags. Also in mid 2024, Roblox had this pretty big problem where everyone was getting tagged. It got fixed almost right away but…We had to say “Hola(TEXT HERE) So it wouldnt get tagged. :rofl:”

didn’t the filter usually use the rest of the sentence when filtering? for example ‘we should assess this’ wouldn’t get tagged?

You mean like “We(Unfiltered) should assess this.(Filtered?)”? Im not rly sure what you mean…

no, i meant the system usually scans the rest of the chat before it filters anything to get the context the word is being used in.

I’ve been experiencing the chat randomly tagging regular messages and the next few messages no matter what they are so I feel this is a very wide-spread issue within Roblox currently.

Even messages without the slightest reason for being tagged will be tagged after a few messages, I’ve experienced the flow of you send a few messages, then it’ll begin tagging all messages then you can go back to regular chatting till it repeats itself.

I feel this is beyond like an extreme level of filtering and rather some kind of bug causing lots of messages to get filtered that quite clearly shouldn’t be filtered, I tested just typing . and even that got filtered after a while.

Same issue the past few days. I got censored for saying “Hello :)” and “How are you?” to my friends. It’s really bad right now.

I got “well” (recurrent) and “…” tagged. Filtering has been a problem for over a decade on roblox and it’s only getting worse… Now with Roblox moderation (and appeals) being at its peak (worse ever) it’s harder and scarier than ever to have an open discussion in roblox
