Christmas Game Feedback

Hi! My team and I have been working on a christmas story game. We believe it’s very good, however we want the input of potential players. Below is a video showing what we have. We ask that you give us any questions or comments you have. We’re open to anything! Thank you in advance!

Well, I think it’s missing two things.

  1. The lighting
The lighting seems to be off when you’re in your room. The storyline tells me it’s night, but the room is quite bright. Maybe add some moonlight coming in through a closed shade to give it some really cool detail.
  2. The train tracks
The train tracks just don’t seem appealing to me. Try adding some gravel under the tracks and darkening the wood. (I can’t see very well, but I don’t think that the ‘wood’ is a wood texture.) Try wood planks.

The beginning is very long at it’s scenes, almost like it’s an image. Also don’t use free models.

Edit: A few more things is that it’s dead silent, at least add some background music.
You should also use use a sun but with a night sky that makes it seem like the moon is shining. You also may want to adjust the sun to the moon in the “Fake” sky with a plugin.

Personally, the script isn’t appealing. Starting almost every scene with ‘you’ isn’t the best choice. Also, the cutscenes could use some work. I would suggest playing games with the similar style over and over to find out what they use for their transitions. They usually show the player walking and grabbing something. Try to do something like the scene where you had the car moving, it made it look a lot more realistic.

I also agree with @Goldengolom772 with the train tracks. I would suggest looking at images of train tracks or visiting a local train station.

Try to make the rooms seem real. A working fan would be nice and an animation of the player typing on a computer.

Definitely missing a lot of detail in some areas where it is bare, like in the first part of the video in the room, the walls are just very blank.

I agree with @Goldengolom772

Try making a few tweaks to the lighting in spawn room.
