City Density and Performance Concerns

Hello!

I would like to have 30-40 unique skyscrapers and commercial buildings within this city, which is composed of 80 plots. There will be copies of some buildings to fill in the empty space. The city is built upon a 9000 x 9000 stud map. There will be lots more buildings surrounding the city as well such as a Hospital, School, Gym, Club, Dealership, etc…To the right of picture is the residential zone, making up 12 plots for players houses. These houses and all other buildings will work similar to Adopt Me! and not Bloxburg. Well maybe in the future, if possible…

Would this potentially be too much to handle for some devices? Too dense? I have streaming enabled on and I don’t experience lag on my end.

  • What are you attempting to achieve? To create a dense low polyish futuristic city within my 9000 x 9000 stud map.
  • What is the issue? Potentially too many buildings causing lag for users.
  • What solutions have you tried so far? I’ve had to try to find a balance to make each building less than 50 parts while utilizing squares to minimize trig count.

Wow, not bad, Are you the only working on this???

and also if the map is full of the building maybe you try to make a bigger space to make a proper terrain and also a lot of work and changes maybe you need an assistant to help you out.

I’m the only one working on this at the moment. I will hire people when I’m ready.

how many people u need to hire and how many script or designer you to make the game work???

There will be multiple advanced scripters. I’ll probably hire around five mature and efficient people. Nothing has been decided yet.

hmm… i think you need to find out when you already to start to post for any help to make a game.

depend on you when you already start it!!!

I suggest playing on the Roblox apps for Google Play Store or Apple App Store (Android and iOS respectively). Try getting your hands on older generation test devices with less processing power and test performance in game. If you are unable to get ahold of test devices, find friends or users who are willing to join on different device types. :octopus:

I think you will find there to be more of an issue with load times. Have you considered using StreamingEnabled? That could also help with performance, but overall it depends on the device. Definitely try lower end mobile if you plan on releasing to mobile and have access to something older.

I think there was a script that makes the lag low but IDK and also IDK how to find it ???

and why I say “IDK”

Perhaps using unionoperations but help to reduce lag

This would be counter intuitive. Unions are well known for the cause of lag due to their unpredictible trig/poly count.

My bad then, from what I heard unions reduce part count which reduces lag

The performance will depend on many factors.

  1. If there’s a lot of parts or decals in one spot, of course it will lag if you look into that direction.
  2. If you use free models a lot, look out for viruses! They can clone inside your game when you run it and that will cause lag. I recommend using a plugin called Ro Defender https://www.roblox.com/library/142273772/Ro-Defender-Plugin-v8-7 It removes most viruses with a simple click
  3. Using a lot of smooth terrain water can slow down your game.

Hope that helped you!
