Hello developers! I’ve been working on my build for a client who ghosted me recently, and I figured it was time for the community to give their input on it.
Looks amazing, but the clouds here look a bit off!
It gives me a depressing feeling. Looks generally sad, even with the blue clouds… I wouldn’t come here.
Welcome to my life charrrrrr
Hey this looks really neat and I like the idea of a city. However, the first 2 pictures look somewhat bland/boring.
To make it more interesting I think you should add:
- Some sort of boat in river
- Add Bikes, Scooters, etc. (maybe even some bike racks on the side)
- Signs with text (not just glowing) to have more things to look at
- Trashcans and the usual sidewalk decor.
- Safety Railing on the water
Other than that all the other images are looking good!
Aw
Call your city Emostreet with depression emoji
Ight @Crazedbrick1, I’m boutta do some very deep analysis on this build. Btw, I highly recommend opening it up as a game.
Image 1
-
The water should be more transparent to be realistic. I recommend setting it to 1 reflectiveness and 0.8 transparency to make it look the best.
-
It is recommended to use archimedes or a similar plugin to make curves on the streetlight.
-
The bridge sides should have edges, ideally diamondplate. Bridges should not be made solely of cobblestone, as the sheer mass of cobble would make it collapse and result in water pollution. In Mallorca, when I was there, all the bridges were made of a thin layer of diamondplate, however they have now been modernised to be made of concrete.
-
No staircase has posts at every single step. I recommend taking out all posts except the last one and the first one. However, I do like the fact that you did include double handrails on it, which does add to the feel of the build ever so slightly.
-
Since the whole flooring is cobblestone, I’d like to say that you should be using a MatreialVariant to make a custom cobblestone texture, because default Roblox cobble looks ugly in almost every single context possible.
-
If you want to add more atmosphere to the build, use LED ropes and place them on the tree branches. This adds more lighting, and you can even match the trees with the closest store colour, so for exmaple bottom left trees would take on a pink colour. It is recommended to use a while true do loop and make all the neon parts a mesh to massively cut lag and make the lights work.
-
The canal edges should have some form of kerb.
-
I would recommend turning on shadows for all lights, as it adds a degree of realism. Whilst it isn’t perfect due to the lack of reflective surfaces acting on lights and no global illumination, it would make for some pretty interesting shadows to look at from things such as the staircase handrail.
-
It is recommended to increase window transparency so as to keep a consistent bloom effect from the left and right stores.
-
It is also a good idea to make your store names something more original than “orange” or “red”, perhaps using alliteration would be a good idea.
-
Also, decrease the extent of the fog so as to be able to see the whole street more clearly, I would highly recommend placing buildings and a road at both ends perpendicular to the main street.
-
I like the ropes. Add a few more.
-
Upon looking at this image, I noticed that the coloured lights from the shops do not penetrate outside. It would add a lot more colour to a somewhat bland outside if you did this, as well as sharpening the window frame geometry.
-
Fill the facade in the bottom right of this image with something, as a bland grey wall is not very great to look at.
-
It is recommended to add small detail to the step edges, either through treads or geometry such as rounding them off with cylinders.
-
I quite like the way the wood plank grain lines up on the pallets on the right hand side. However, I think you could do even better with a PBR texture edited to make it match the current colour.
-
The glass pillar in the middle, put something in it. For example, in Waterloo’s JLE concourse, there is a similar glass pillar with an emergency staircase inside it. It wouldn’t feel fully complete without such.
-
Don’t use pebble for the empty image! Use a PBR cork texture, it makes it feel significantly more realistic. I do like the image choice though on the other picture.
-
Perhaps some try/buy signs would be good for the mannequins? This is a homestore after all.
-
The plant on the right could do with a bit more detail. Since this is midpoly, I would not recommend going all out with mtree, but a few more leaves like you did with the trees outside would definitely make it work.
-
I like the trusses and light designs at the top, but it would be even better if you added pipes there too!
-
Thin the base of the trash can, the geometry of a metal trash can is usually such that the base is the thinnest part of it all. I get where you’re going, but the difference in radius is easily visible to the eye.
-
The 2nd carpet could do with something on it. A table perhaps? Even sofas at the edge like the yellow store?
-
Your windows are concrete! Make them metal, concrete windows don’t exist because they are simply just… off.
-
The pipe is too wide to look like a pipe. Decrease the diameter by 25-50% to make it look more like one. Repeat with the pipe holders.
-
Make the further back carpet have a thin black rim like the one closer to the window.
-
Make the toches in the middle have a fire effect or something similar. It feels incomplete otherwise.
-
Get rid of any artificial light sources on the ceiling if any exist. This helps match the theme of the area.
-
Make the brick sides a slight brown to help match the theme.
-
Add door handles.
-
Make the lighting blue to match the theme. The clouds feel off as others have said so instead of trying to troubleshoot it, remove the clouds. 2 problems fixed.
-
Make the pedestal under the mannequins have a bit more detail. Bevels perhaps?
-
No wood floorboard is blue, perhaps use a glass tile flooring like in Neon Market’s bar (by Shiguto)
-
Use a PBR texture to make the middle glass more reflective whilst not creating a refractive index that messes with the mannequin.
-
Window rims are needed before the window frame interacts with the concrete, a 0.025 thick metal rim would do.
-
Door looks misaligned.
-
Add a few more of those purple bar lights, they’re lovely, add more!
-
Make the dance area only violet and use
math.random()
to make the random on/off effects like a real dance floor. -
Since in #37 I said to make the lights more plentiful, add one above the stage so we can see the speakers.
-
The mirrors should be shiny, use a PBR silver texture for that purpose
-
Make the pebble in the frames glass, that way it looks like a TV screen. Do not use cork this time as orange and pink do not mix.
-
The room is a bit dim, make it a bit brighter so everything is more clearly visible.
-
Make the edges thinner on the crate.
-
Add a few more barrels closer to the window. There looks to be only one right now.
-
Face the mannequins in the middle the other way. No words can express how strange it would be to have mannequins stare at you whilst sitting an taking a rest on the sofa.
-
Make all dummy models named " " so the Dummy tags stop appearing. Alternatively, set the humanoid view distances to 0.
-
Make the screen slightly brighter, enough to glow slightly.
-
Use a custom marble texture that’s slightly more shiny.
-
This room is just too dark to interpret anything much sadly, turn up the lights.
-
The screen on the left appears bright, emphasising the need to carry out tip 47.
Rating overall: 6/10
I liked the atmosphere and concept, but there are small-medium things that can be improved everywhere.
This feedback took 30 minutes to write.
Funny thing, I believe I actually was in this game with you and Tms, haha!
But yeah, jokes aside, this is a masterpiece. Good work
I will. I’ll walk down it everyday with my zero friends
How much time did it take you to type that much xD
I would use textures instead of the already available materials. You might also want to make it more bright, looks kinda sad.
Half an hour, I was typing at a pretty speedy pace as well. Your average joe could easily spend 45 mins on that instead
The worse way to make random stuff? Use random.new(os.time()):NextInteger(1,5)
