No. Scan the current models in the library for virus scripts or scripts that exist to mitigate development.
So, we can‘t make a script for ban Users that use free Robux or f word (or warn them)? Why Roblox not let me do that?
If this was the case with this feature I would definitely support that.
However here it seems roblox wants to (and apparently had done so for the past several months) inspect all of the scripts we write, also those closed source ones, which could contain such critical data like private API keys.
In theory a single swear (or anything that will trigger the automatic system) can lead to some “trained professional” inspecting your code without any notification, and if something is indeed found, like this:
it could cause content deletion or even roblox account termination.
There is also the question asked by several people already: what happens to TC scripts? is the place owner responsible for what one of the scripters put in the code? or roblox somehow determines who made the change and moderates them?
I could be misunderstanding this, but I completely do not like this change, I do not want to have any limitations with the code I typed in, it’s mine, therefore I should be the only one who can change something about it, I never type anything offensive but this is just silly, and if for instance, an exploiter decides to take my scripts and finds something weird or not friendly (which won’t ever happen but it’s an example) then that’s completely on their end, my code was not meant to be stolen by anyone in the first place. I just don’t like this change that much, please let me know if I misunderstood something though as I do not want to misunderstand a new feature/update but to me, this seems like a stab in the back, thanks for patiently reading!
Most of my code contains vulgar words since no one can see them but me.
From an industry & ethical standpoint, having such words in your code is a big no. I can see why Roblox would like to enforce this to better teach kids that typing your anger on the editor is not the best way to do things.
However, vulgar language (common swear words) do not apply to this system. Just words that can be seen as racially unjust (won’t go into detail, etc).
The irony is that the system is the same as it has been for quite a while.
So should over 13s be able to use the code function in team create to discuss racially incitement or hateful messages? - I think it’s reasonable to question this policy for code that will never be read by anyone else, but that is not what you are saying (until now). You should make the distinction because it waters down the argument by being overly general.
So what about Team Create? What about collaborative editing? Is that public domain enough?
I believe that over 13s should be mature enough to see someone like that and leave the TC and report the offending user.
Even if they aren’t, this has more potential for harm than good.
vulgarity is against community rules tho
the lack of transparency on not only this issue, but many issues before and possibly after is extremely dangerous and worrying for the future of this platform.
What can in the code be considered as “inappropriate”? Links to shady websites or inappropriate assets, or for example swear words in the code? If it’s the latter, then keep in mind that some specific numbers can be treated as inappropriate stuff but can be crucial stuff in the game code. As flagged code is reviewed manually, it can take up to 14 days to confirm that a specific number meant to be mandatory in the game code isn’t a reference to adult stuff. If a certain number is blacklisted due to references but can be mandatory in the game code, it’ll only increase the amount of flags for code that’s not meant to be inappropriate.
That is not reliable, or a moderation policy that Roblox could possibly adopt.
Plus, by making Team Create 13+, you’re depriving thousands of young developers of being able to work together on games.
Perhaps you should elaborate on them if you want them to be addressed.
Does anyone know if there’s a way to contact someone who may know if this stands for only public game or both private and public. Cause if this is for both, it’s very concerning.
For now, this is for both. If you have concerns about that, you should voice that concern to Roblox staff in this thread, who will be reading this and feeding important concerns back.
I don’t see how this is relevant at all to the discussion that we are having about moderation - can you elaborate?
I don’t know about that chief. Yes it would suck if someone used the script editor to discuss about some questionable things but then again, the script editor isn’t meant for chatting and shouldn’t be moderated in that way. Besides, who uses the script editor to chat lol
So, my code is clean with no vulgar language or comments. I tried to upload my game, and it failed.
No messsage about what is wrong, just the word ‘failed’.
Now I can’t develop.
It doesn’t matter what it is meant for. If it can be used to break the Terms of Service, then it is a problem.
It isn’t just about chatting, and making the debate about that is not going to tackle the matter. It is about PII sharing, filtering, racial terminology, etc.
Why should I be able to invite someone to a Team Create and display racially aggravated language at them? It isn’t a question of personal belief - Roblox has to moderate all forms of communication, intentional or not. If you have specific issues with how they plan on doing that, then that’s something you should elaborate, but discussing if Roblox should just exempt scripts because “nobody uses it to chat” therefore it’s fine to not moderate is not going to be fruitful here.
This has nothing to do with this thread or moderation actions. Please direct that to the #platform-feedback:studio-bugs channel in the form of a bug report.
