If I acquired an original version (not a remix) classic Roblox song (eg The Great Strategy) through 3rd party means (eg Youtube or Spotify) would I be able to download it, use it in Studio, and publish the game it’s in safely?
I would check copyright laws, which probably vary from song to song. Using such music might restrict your ability to profit from your game, and some music may not be usable at all; this reminds me of the massive wipe Roblox did of all the classic sounds & music, so I don’t feel like it would be the best idea right now - especially since the wipe they did of all that audio didn’t seem wholly rational to me when it happened, and I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if they did something similarly strange again, catching you in the crossfire.
Still your prerogative, though, and I don’t want to tell you what to do - just be careful and make sure you’re within your rights because this is more of a legal issue than a technical one.
Yeah, I was really looking for a legal answer, not a technical one. I have access to the songs I want to download, so that wasn’t an issue, the issue was if I would get fire rained down on me from Roblox or other. So, thanks for the input, will definitely try to look into that.
