Clicking on Roblox Studio in MacOS Dock during an update causes it to corrupt itself by updating more than once

Reproduction steps:

  1. Click on Roblox Studio from the Dock on MacOS before an update is pending
  2. Click on it again, regardless of if the updating dialogue is visible yet or not
  3. Multiple update dialogues will appear depending on how many times you clicked
  4. After one or all of the dialogues close, attempting to open Studio shows the system’s “damaged or incomplete” dialogue

Visuals:

Multiple update dialogues, result of clicking 3 times.

Expected behavior

I expect for Roblox Studio to come into focus when I click on it again. It’s poor UX that clicking on it while the update dialogue is loading begins another update. There is no way for me to know that an update was pending, or if I missed the click, for example.

Common UX on MacOS is that when you click on an app in the dock, it will

  • Open the app only if it’s not currently waiting to open OR
  • Focus on the app if it’s already open
